been a rough year, being in the middle of a drought, combined with the hottest July since 1936 I believe.
Cows stay out in pastures all night. we vaccinate them, pour them for fly protection and haul them to pasture in the spring, and cattle drive them home in the fall. we typically let them out in the fall to free range harvested corn fields. Cows have a nose for corn. they come in at night for water, they stay in overnight, but not in a barn, and go out the next day.
in the winter there is a barn to go into and out of freely, but most stay outside. we feed them in a giant lot/ small pasture over winter, calve in the spring. some ranchers start calving in February, they calve in a barn. frozen ears and tails can happen quickly.
as far as predators, we only have coyotes, and they would get their ass kicked by a cow.
And as,far as cow tipping, good luck. I typically charge 20 bucks a person for the full cow tipping experience. you won't be disappointed...
