and the first week of events. Other than catching Pneumonia the most fun I've ever had in one week. Calgary is like New York on a miniature scale. They filmed a Superman episode there. At night the wind howls through the tall buildings making it both eerie and fun. All the restaurants filled with people all the time and speaking what seemed like a million different languages. My wife struck up a conversation with a Norwegian sled coach about education in our country and our foreign student program. He made contact with us after the games closed.
The difficulty for these Olympics was the Chinook winds which come off the plains and can take a freezing temperature up to the 50s in a matter of minutes. That played havoc for some of the ski events and was the reason I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. Was there off and on for three days. Total bill when we got home-$20.
