there is no way to actually 'know' how untouched it is.... BUT... I think I can make a very educated guess.
We bought the ranch in 1982. We have NOT explored it.
The guy we bought the ranch from had owned it since the 1890's.. well, his family had. I believe it was his grandfather that originally purchased it but it could have been his Dad. They did NOT explore it... and not just that... this guy was a real jerk. He got along with NONE of this neighbors. He allowed no one on his land, at the threat of actual gunfire.
The formation is not near any fence line, or any other manmade object that would require workers for either building it or maintenance. No roads lead to it. Our neighbor, on that side of the ranch where the rock formation is - is friendly but every bit as protective of his land as the guy was who owned our ranch before us. He allows no access.. not hunting, not anything.. nor does HE himself, or his family hunt that area. Since 1982 we have never once seen him, or his workers, on that hill.
Beginning early 1900's the larger area around our ranch was heavily mined... lot of workers, but they had no access to my ranch OR the 3 surrounding ranches adjacent to ours. The closes mine is about 1 mile north of our northern border.
Obviously someone 'could' have snuck on... it wouldn't be that hard to do if you don't mind huffing and puffing and fighting the brush and trust me... to attempt it would be one major hike that would require well over a day to get in and then back out.
