If there was a logical reason, (can't think of one just off the top of my head), that say a 10' X 10' area of your backyard was better situated for your neighbor to use than you, and vice versa, you would agree that he can use your 10' X 10' area and you can use his 10' X 10' area. Why not? It works for you both and you save a FORTUNE in going into the Govt. agency and restructuring it... IF they would even allow you to do it... and you can bet your ass they'd charge you a ridiculously enormous fee for typing in all the work you did for them.
On our ranch the areas swapped are much larger, of course, but nothing huge. That area with rocks might be 7 acres off our land, at most. We control about 4,000 acres between Deeded (owned), and BLM (Govt. land we rent)... so as you can see it's a very tiny portion. In another area we allow about 15 acres of our land to be used by another neighbor, (we have no logistical use for it), and up the canyon for that area we use about 20 acres of HIS land that he has no logistical use for.
Couple other area like that as well but all totaled it's little overall acreage. - JamesJM
