Was when I was a kid and had an outdoor cat that we kept feeding and watering - he was a stray to begin with, but I sorta fell for him and decided to make him my cat.. I would feed him canned cat food.. I would spoon the food into his bowl, that smack the spoon on the can to get the remnants off the spoon.. Eventually the cat, who was never around during feeding times, would hear me smacking the spoon on the can and come FLYING around the corner to eat.. essentially the spoon on can was a dinner bell to the cat..
