I think it depended on the time frame..

in history when it was applicable to each user.. I think before the 70's was pretty much what you mention.. 80's and 90's was everything but going all the way.. 2000's was having a mortgage.. 50's was pretty much holding hands and giggling.. that's my guess, anyways..
