We just got back from a week on Cape Cod. A decades-closed drive-in reopened very recently and we took our kids last Friday night. I hadn't been to a drive in since I think 1988 or maybe 1989. I was expecting it to be fairly low quality experience with the movie projected on some big tarps or sheets but it was just the opposite. Several huge, 40' LED screens hung on stacked shipping containers and great quality sound (through your car's radio). Enough space between cars to keep people distant. Concessions available via your phone and walk-up pick up.
We all loved it and will definitely go back. I'd estimate 130 cars were there (~1/3 capacity). Not bad considering they'd been open maybe 10 days and have barely started advertising.
A great idea that more places should revive, especially right now.
