Music has always been representative of a moment in time. What my early influences were. . . relationships I was in. . . circumstances both political and social.
As a child i was immersed in classical, Bartok/Stravinsky contemporary and Latino. . I later moved to Benny Goodman, Satchmo, Miles Davis jazz. These were early influences from my family.
Probably, the best example of that "moment", and thus my favorite. . . at the time. . . was the day I was released from the Army. Ironically, it was the same time that Grand Funk Railroad came out with "I'm getting closer to my home." It played endlessly as I drove from Ft. Benning back home to Columbus, OH. That was THAT moment in time.
