Steve Gadd's cowbell... funny thing about Steve's solo in this video... it begins with what is a "march" beat... and seems completely out of place as compared to what Weckl and Colaiuta just played... but when the cowbell comes in it all comes together.

This is, btw, one of the most famous Steve Gadd beats ever... NOT the march, (although that's good), but when the cowbell comes in.
