Legitimate scientists don't work to prove a theory. They work to test theory. If they perform a test that disproves their theory they publish a paper that says so. But just to follow thru on your premise, since you're talking about unethical scientists. If they did what you propose I assume they would publish a report of some sort? If it was a typical peer reviewed scientific paper it would included at sources, methods, calculations, assumptions, and conclusions ... and such papers would be discredited as soon as other scientist attempted to verify their results.

I implied it in my previous post but I'll say it plainly here. I will read whatever link you supply and consider it on the facts it contains. Opinions are another thing entirely, and I don't argue anyone's opinion. If someone says they like chocolate better than vanilla that's end of discussion. If they it's a fact that chocolate is better than vanilla I'll challenge them to prove it.

I can't say that I ever take any one source's word on anything regardless of how much I think of that source. I first google the subject and find out the pros and the cons, and if I can make sense of the original claim I accept it. If I can't then I don't.

Virtually everyone is affected by this in one way or another. As you probably guess I live in New York, the hell hole center of the universe as far as the COVID-19 outbreak goes. You, I take it, live somewhere that isn't nearly as impacted. So obviously the crap you're going thru is different than what I'm experiencing. But what I've seen is hospitalizations, intubations, and deaths go down every single day for 28 days because of what the citizens of New York have done to contain the beast. I guess that makes an impression on me an influences my perspective just like your personal experiences impacts your perspective. I'm not sure that makes me a bad guy ...
