Here's my movie at 13 that spurned a life of diving.
5 years later I was actually in one of the "lineups" off the Coronado Islands our of San Diego. My best friend's older brother was a UDT (now Navy Seal) instructor. On days off he would take some of his men spearfishing off the Coronado Islands across the border in Mexico but only about an hour by boat out from the base.. We went with them and to be honest out-dove them since they were only trained on SCUBA. In order to get some practice in he would have the Seals roll over into the water under fast speed conditions. We went in too and then came the pickup. Most of the adults were from the mid-west, were big and football type strong. But little or no ocean experience. They were amazed at how deep the two skinny kids could free dive.
