on what you think is normal for rock bands.. I don't think a sax is normal in rock bands, but several used them.. Foreigner did for a while - and I remember the guy playing flute live once, as well... Pink Floyd notoriously on the first solo to Dark Side Of the Moon.. i never liked Bruce Springsteen, but Clarence Clemmons was the back bone of that band, as was the guy in Bog Seger's "Turn the Page".. and who can forget Gerry Rafferty's mega famous tune? Anyone remember that?
But, I still don't consider Sax a main instrument in rock - at least not metal..
Bagpipes in AC/DC's Its a Long Way to the Top..
Synthesizer guitar, not a mainstay in metal, but found its way into Judas Priest's Turbo Lover..
I think if you were to investigate this more, you'd find lots of bands using various bizarre instruments to create specific sounds on songs that you never knew what they were..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
