I don't remember the brand but I think it was around that same timeframe. We've always had remote control at my house. My dad would say "Vickie, put it on channel 2". "Van, it's time for the news. Change the channel", etc. "Wendell... come here boy. Put in channel 4". He used us kids as his "remote control" and rarely "touched that dial" himself.
