Yesterday was youth football day....
Big spread in school attendance in the various small towns that make up our youth football league. The larger, (and quite a bit larger), towns win the championships nearly every year. Occasionally there is a huge difference in talent between two teams.... to the point of being scary.. happened yesterday.
We, Kerman, played Chowchilla - - Every year I've been following youth football Chowchilla has been are arch rival... very competitive games. Chowchilla is having a down year, very down.
At the end of the 1st quarter it was Kerman 40 Chowchilla 0. 48 - 0 at the half. I was begging our coaches to pull our starters... and NOT just because of the score... I was seriously worried one of the Chowchilla kids was going to get hurt. My grandson Ashton told me after the game he simply backed off when tackling the Chowchilla players because he had the same concern.
It was ugly. The 2nd half, however, our coaches did back off on the throttle... no starters except for my grandson who came in at QB to replace our starting QB.... it was still not pleasant to watch. My grandson at QB could have probably scored every play.... which did happen once when the RB got mixed up on the play so my grandson had to scramble... TD.
Chowchilla never scored that game... BUT.. in the 4th they did manage to complete a pretty long pass... maybe 30 yards? Every Kerman fan in the stands stood up and cheered them. - JamesJM
