Midway is, IMO. the biggest "What if??" of WWII

September 25, 2018 06:50AM
Had we lost Midway, Hawaii would've been in DEEP doo doo. The West Coast? Many say it was simply too far away from Japan for them to sustain an invasion. But with Pearl Harbor under their control, there most certainly would've been attacks on the West Coast. And if ANY of this happens....Would we have sent the amount of forces to battle Germany? I have always said that Torpedo Squadron #8 off the USS Hornet and other torpedo squadrons on 4 June, arguably saved the world. Their sacrifice opened the door for our SBDs to get hits on the Japanese carriers...changing the war and the world.
