I have a Sony AVR... and the problem began about 3 months ago.... only one difference - I AM getting the 'protection' notice. I can turn it back on immediately, the volume automatically resets to 0, and slowly turn it up to continue watching for a while but at most I will get an hour before it kicks off again.... and this even at low volumes BUT... a sudden high volume output always knocks it out.
I was going to take it in soon but after reading this thread I may just break down and buy a new one... for the third time in about 4 years.. I'm getting very frustrated.
I'll have to read reviews VERY carefully.... another worthless AVR and I'm going to go hysterical. - JamesJM
P.S. Doubly aggravation because the 'sound quality' from this current Sony was actually quite good. - JamesJM
