So have never really spent much time around them. Nieces and nephews of course but never this much time and this much play time.
I'm fortunate because both of her kids like me, that's not always the case and it can make things difficult.
Bridget is going to be a runner or a swimmer. She may do other things because she is very athletic but she does those two things very well. When we go to the beach the rule is no running in the parking lot for obvious safety reasons but the moment her feet hit the sand it's a race to the water or she will just start running full speed along the shore asking me to chase her.
When she was just 6 we were at the beach and ended up staying for the sunset. It was summer and the water was nice. On the gulf the sunsets in the summer can be spectacular (I have oodles of killer pics) because of the storms way out on the water. So she climbed up on my shoulders and asked me to "walk out really far" so I went into the water about shoulder deep. We were much further out than anyone, most people were standing on the sand watching the sun go down, hardly anyone was in the water. I tilted my head up and to the side and looked at her and said "right now we are closer to the sunset than anyone in the whole wide world" and as I said it I turned so she could see how far out we were and how much closer than anyone else. The look on her face as she got her mind around it was priceless. The smile was perfect.
I'm getting soft.
