Dude...... I can't even stress this enough.. During the "big hair" glam era in the 80's, women were ALL OVER guys in bands.. Hot chicks you'd ordinarily NEVER have a chance with were now throwing themselves at you because you were in a band.. I you were good looking, great - you got the pick of the litter.. even ugly guys were getting chicks left and right.. and this was in club bands! With national bands it was WAY crazier than that.. When I met Vinnie Vincent (Kiss, Vinnie Vincent Invasion) in Dallas in '83 or '84, that dude had 150 of the hottest chicks you've EVER seen hanging ALL over him.. and he got his pick of the litter and left with her.. and he looked like a freaking carp.. Yes, the fish... ugly, ugly dude... I can post pics of him and me during that event if you really want me to - just to show how goofy he looked.. and he walked away with a Cosmopolitan cover chick from Dallas..
It was crazy.. The world will never see another era like the 80's.. and even though the big hair glad era gets a lot of flack, if you were a guy with big hair, you were gonna score.. period..

Back in the day, I used to (guest) sing with various local bands, and I was pretty good. Just couldn't sing more than a few songs before my voice cut out on me (sinuses), so I never got to be in a band full-time. But I did have some "groupies" much later at a Karaoke club back in the 1990s.
They loved my version of Brown Eyed Girl.Speaking of Van Morrison: I can honestly say I sang with his band in 1990, after his concert at Merriweather Post Pavillion (Maryland). I was a bartender at the hotel he and his band had booked, and it was after the show, and his band still wanted to party. I asked them if I could sing some blues (no hotel manager in sight), and they said, yeah. Van wasn't with them. Got to meet him, sorta, in a blur, before that. Dude is short, but his presence fills the room. One of the all-time, all-timers.
