Funny thing, Steve... (two topics)

When I posted about Basketball, for laughs, (true but for laughs)... I was just goofing around. Today... I swear this is true, our local league made a post on Facebook for Cal-Ripkin League signups this month.. that's friggin' BASEBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know when it starts.. but we haven't even had our Thanksgiving Dinner yet for Pete's Sake.

Second topic:

We just got hired for a couple of band gigs... the dates are: Anywhere between Aug 1, 2017 and Dec. 15, 2017. Easy to commit to that, huh?

And continuing with 'music' stuff... since it's been so long since I played I brought my snare drum into the bedroom, (can't post what my wife thought of that move... the cuss filter would explode)... and been practicing some rudiments nightly. It's kind of coming back. In my old age I have lost 50% of my speed, and I was never fast to begin with... but with practice I'm getting noticeably quicker, and better... that kind of surprised me. I'm not trying to wail around the kit anymore... that was 'then'... just trying to get tight, stop dragging (an old age symptom), and better at 'tuning' my kit to create better sound. It's worth it. Actually I long ago discovered that being tight, solid, and creating beautifully sounding 'notes' was the most important thing to me... and not, so much, making a run down the toms at light speed.... which isn't to say I don't listen to the 'great's' today with envy, those who play at light speed... but I'm pleased to do what I am able to do. - JamesJM
