Anyone ever have ceiling / wall separation (Sheet rock) ??

January 09, 2025 01:33PM
This morning, I noticed cracks and some gaps, towards the center of the house, where the ceiling and walls meet. I did some reading on it and heard that temperature fluctuation can cause that.......along with foundation issues. I REALLY think it's the first. I have not seen any cracks on the outside bricks or on the walls. I did read that temp fluctuation issues usually are towards the middle of the house. Something to do with the trusses. I'm wondering if we have had that issue for years but the popcorn...that we had removed last Summer, covered it? I also think that some of the tape along the ceiling was removed by the popcorn guy. The worst of the splits is in our Den. One spot is almost a quarter inch.

We have our Contractor guy who did our Kitchen coming over to look at it. I'm just curious to hear other stories, if any, by you guys. Will re taping and mudding fix the issue? Or will that just split also? LOL TRYYYYYING to keep my cool because this house has been a ROYAL PITA! What was supposed to be 3 months of renovations that started in July has turned into ooooooooooone thing after another for almost 6 months.

My Wife has family in Michigan. She told me that sometimes FUNERALS have to wait.

Found out late this afternoon that my problem is not that complex.
