My oldest grandson also hates Ketchup - worse than that actually - it makes him sick to even see it. Almost to the point of upchucking. He has no idea why.
I'm like that, too. Passing by tables in a restaurant where the plates haven't been cleared, if there is ketchup smeared on the empty plates I about gag. There's something about ketchup on bread that just sickens me. If I order a burger and it comes with ketchup on it... I don't eat it. I just can't bring myself to do it. I don't ever use ketchup as a condiment. Not ever! However, I DO have some recipes that have ketchup as an ingredient along with other things and I can tolerate that. Ketchup just can't be the "star of the show" 'cause then, I gotta pass. .
On the other hand, I'm fine with tomato sauce or tomato paste and use them in cooking all the time. Go figure.
