Keep everything charged to 100% BEFORE the winds hit. I have NEVER EVER understood that GRAB BOTTLED WATER!!! GRAB BOTTLED WATER!!! mess. If things are so bad that the tap water is out???? You have MUCH bigger issues. We wished up and removed TWENTY TWO trees from our yard. ALL were Water Oaks that were ticking time bombs. One of the most unsettling sounds during a hurricane is when you hear that WHOOOOOOSH sound of a wind gust, hear the house crackling and then.........POP!!!! The sound of a large tree limb snapping. There's that 1.2 seconds of hoping you don't hear a bad crash on the roof. I have always heard of people getting drunk during storms. NOT ME! I want all of my wits.
With alllll that said??? I will take a hurricane over an Earthquake AAAAANY day!! Hurricanes give you days / WEEKS to prepare. Earthquakes are RIGHT FREAKING NOW! I experienced a 2 second long tremor while stationed in Blytheville, Ark. It was from the New Madrid (Missouri) Fault. Lemme tell ya. That spooked the hell outta me!
