The area we live in is blowing up with restaurants. They are all stand alone places and very impressive. Went out this past Friday to a place called Magnolia Blue. The food was excellent. Had a starter of egg rolls, hand made with pulled pork inside, crispy and delicious. Had a rack of ribs that were equal to any smoke pit I've been to, had a veg side of collard greens with smoked bacon. Finished with a key lime cheese cake. In between had a very good custom cocktail and a very refreshing red wine with dinner. Now the dinner cost $150 for 2, but again it was a great place. As we ate the speakers we going with Sniff and the Tears, Alice Cooper, Alan Parsons, The Beatles...a very diverse grouping of music with not one bad song.
Last Sat. we went to a Whisky Bar in Jamestown (we live here). Nothing but custom blend of drinks, no food on premises. Mary had a smoked old fashioned...and a mojito....I had 2 oddly named mixes and they were very good, sitting outside on their deck overlooking the traffic. (It's a small town maybe 5-6,000)....Again with tips 4 drinks were $70. But a great place none the less.
My point is there are a lot of very good restaurants but to find them you need to stay away from all those franchise places.....California Pizza, Applebys, all those cookie cutter steak places....
