Frank goes out for lunch once a month with his amputee support group and I go out for lunch once a month with my bladder cancer support group. We hardly ever go out to eat together these days and when we do, which isn't often, ... it's usually someplace like Taco Bell, McDonald's, Subway, or Domino's. We've always enjoyed eating out, but we don't like how much it costs these days to do it. A couple of months ago I took my daughter and grandson out for breakfast at iHop. I didn't order anything fancy: 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon, 2 pancakes, coffee. Grandson had juice, fruit, and bacon. Kara had an iced coffee and a pretty normal breakfast off the menu. When I saw the bill was about $50 I darned near fell over. I don't know how some folks do it because it would put a huge dent in my pocketbook if Frank and I ate out as much as we know some do. We used to eat out at the drop of a hat about 10 years ago, just cause we felt like it. We could do it and it didn't hurt. Not anymore. Now, we'd rather pocket that money, hold it back for other things, and cook at home. Tonight I'm having a burger, onion rings, a salad, and a root beer for dinner and I'm making it myself. I smile when I think of how much $ I'm saving by not eating out.
