People REALLY miss that. I bet the young people out there, who have NO IDEA what Customer Service is, would be blown away. I have always said it would not take much to bury Walmart and even take a good swing at Amazon. Bring back TRUE Sales People in each Department. Train them well, have HIGH standards DEMANDED of them but also treat them well. From 1960 till the very late 80s, my Dad LOVED working for SEARS. Coincidentally, that's when CUSTOMERS loved SEARS. SEARS needs to bring back their catalog in it's heyday...though online. All the while, having much of the merchandise in their stores. People like seeing something in person before buying. Have HONEST Sales Staff to give advice. Most of what SEARS used to sell was good quality and they stood by it.
These days, we have Walmart and even Amazon tossing basically disposable garbage at people. Go to a Walmart store and TRY to get help from a HALF WAY friendly / KNOWLEDGEABLE Clerk. Good Luck!! Walmart treats their Employees like hired garbage and it shows.
