In 1949 I sat with my mother at the Coliseum in a driving rain storm at a game to decide the NFL title between the Eagles and Rams. Not a shower but a real storm that began early in the morning and went through the next day. Granted it was not snowing but it was so cold and wet my mom kept passing me a flask of whisky. Rams and Waterfield lost 14-0 as the HOF fullback for the Eagles Steve VanBuren couldn't be stopped in the mud. We both sat through the entire game in just sweaters. The only difference between us was that she was the one with the whisky.
