no, not mountain lions.... deer.... BUT... since the weather hasn't brought the deer out yet I'll be mostly looking for Lion tracks and hoping to see one.
As you all know... Lions are very sly and it's rare to see one. However, there are so many roaming my ranch, and the area, right now I think I have a good chance. I'm taking my good camcorder with a telephoto lens just in cast I spot one.
We're seeing the Lion tracks basically congregated in a narrow area about a mile long. And we're seeing a lot of tracks. Every night new tracks can be seen either crossing the dirt roads or walking along the road.
Last time up I'm pretty sure I spotted a kill... that is, the spot where a lion took a deer, probably a fawn. I'm not the best tracker but it sure looked to me like a scuffle took place. No carcass but that's typical of a lion kill...they'll often move their kill to a new location where they can hide it and return for an occasional snack.
Let's hope I don't become the snack.
