is that TV revenue is what major football programs depend on. That's not true for other University/College sports-even basketball. And so the content providers in television depend on the audiences because advertising is how they survive. The Pack 12-now 2-has always lagged because most of the country can not see them when its prime time on the west coast. Moreover, now that college players can get paid for name, image, likeness, the football players will forego scholorships on the west coast for the big bucks in TV exposure. Hence the quality of play in the west suffers-so say most alumni associations.
When it comes down to the real and honest reason-football by far is the most expensive sport a college can offer its students and alumni. They will go where the money is or drop the program.
