Granted this is anecdotal-but you wrote that kids today receive pretty much zilch from their "educational" systems.
My grandson's graduating class (2022) from a public HS in Sacramento scored in the top 5% on the SAT scores. He graduated with honors and achieved a scholorship to a "public" ivy league university (UCONN). He is in his second year and majors in physics with a minor in non-western philosophy. His calculus class in high school was so advanced that he immediately was placed in advanced calculus (differential equations) as a freshman at UCONN. Oh yes, he's doing all this while at the same time racing on UCONN's alpine ski team.
Almost forgot: was in a debating club at his HS -all subjects for debate dealt with current news and other signigicant issues.
I know nothing about "Tik Tok" but I know he and his entire HS graduating class received a pretty damn good "education".
