I use NO guards these days! Cut my hair once a week.....all the way!! Feels good! I have not touched a brush or comb in about 20 years. For years, at Supercuts, I had the Girl do #5 on top and 2 or 3 on the sides. I went there as long as I did because I had a crush on the girl who cut my hair but never told her. LATER found out she liked me. OH WELL!!! Seriously.....My hair has ZEEEEERO style. Even before the hairline went away. In 7th grade, my hair looked like Tom Petty. I liked it THEN. But after the USAF, I got used to short hair. It simply feels great in hot n muggy weather. I started going all the way with my Wahl (Walmart) clippers because I liked the ease of putting on my SCBA mask at Structure Fires. These days......It's simply "EFF IT!!" Just don't wanna mess with hair.
