..and my guess is that because single performers potentially make more money - especially if they write the material.. if that's the case, like with Loggins/Messina, Michael Jackson, Sting, John Wait,Phil Collins, and unfortunately Alice Cooper etc.. all the other musicians because strictly background musicians.. If the singer writes all the material, he/she will generally split away from the groups in order to not have to split the money.. they just pay a modest salary to the backups who are lined up a mile long just wanting the exposure..
