But in a smart way, I thought.
And I loved the way M3GAN was portrayed... only a few times did her dialogue seemed forced... like when she cursed. Not a fan of gore for gore's sake, so this was a breath of fresh air for me. I only saw a little of Chucky way back when, to know it wasn't for me. And the truth is that if I thought the movie was going to be like Chucky I wouldn't have seen it. In fact, I never even connected the two.
I know R ratings are more popular but usually that takes me out of the film. In Pulp Fiction, the violence fit... but some movies seem to have the idea that adding adult material to it will be more popular. You know, not done because it adds tot he movie but more like an add on. I don't know if you have ever seen Outlander, a series about time travel, but I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of that because it was overly gratuitous. Much like I fast forwarded much of The Walking Dead... just useless, uninteresting violence, blood, gore that doesn't add anything to the plot.
I think that is why I was so scared in the made for TV Exorcist but not so much with the R version. M3GAN has an uncut version and I saw some of it. So glad that I did not see the uncut one first... just would have put it in the Chucky realm for me.
I might check out Cocaine Bear... It seems stupid... and I like me some stupid... but it has to be done well.
