I was trying to explain the layout.. these pics show it much better.. I didn't shoot either one.. the first one is of Kia Ora on the lagoon side with the overwater bungalows.. you can see Rangiroa is just a thin strip of land and makes a complete circle - was a volcano that sunk into the ocean.. you can see the wilderness side - the land strip is about 100 yards or so wide..

The second pic shows the same (Kia Ora in the middle) but also includes the "Tiputa Pass" which is the ocean part at the bottom of the pic.. you take a boat outside the lagoon (to the right of the pic) jump in and get swept at 30mph through the Pass back into the lagoon.. its a HUGE thrill ride and definitely not for everyone.. I just went with the flow.. most of the rest of the people tried to fight it or tried to cling to rocks etc to make the dive longer.. they were all cut up and beat to crap lol
