Durant played in first 2 games and played well before injury. That’s the acid test. So to claim that he wasn’t ready to see the field makes little sense to me.
Durant didn't see the field week 1. In fact, only three CBs did: Ramsey (59 snaps), Hill (56 snaps), and Long (42 snaps). [

In week 2 Durant played 23 of the 61 defensive plays. Ramsey played all 61, Long played 46, Hill played 21, and Rochelle played 3. [
theramswire.usatoday.com] Looks to me like Hill and Durant split the CB3 snaps in week 2, kind of in line with what I said about getting Durant on the field for a limited number of plays .
Isn't it at least possible that while Durant was sidelined Kendrick mastered the defense to a much greater extent than Durant? And that despite Durant having superior skills Kendrick was more consistently in the right place at the right time? And that Kendrick's proficiency allowed the a Rams to run a more effective team defense despite Durant having superior athletic ability? And that once Durant learned the playbook he passed Kendrick on the depth chart?
I don't know for a fact that's how it played out. But I also haven't seen anything that rules it out, either.
