2 teams have to play. Why are you so determined to go full blast about how the RAMS did this and that without the thinking that there was another team out there who had a determination in the outcome? I said that the real difference in that game was not the game planning but the ability for 1 coach to get his team in the mood to play when you are:
1-playing a down and out team
2-playing a team that you don't really consider a rival (outside the conference/outside the division)
3-getting a team up for a game when maybe your family can come into your mind/play......
On top of that the amount of injuries and player issues they have gone through for 15 weeks. Look across the line and see a team in the broncos....they were in the same boat as us, how did they respond?
The response of the team IMO over shadows his "game plan"....His game plan IMO is what it has been for the most part. The las few weeks Cam has gotten 15 carries or so a game..the difference is there were holes to run through. He has thrown to Higs all year, the difference is he was catching the ball.
The interceptions have been there all year to grab, the difference is they caught them this time....Did his play book call for special blocking this week? They were the same guys who went against the pack and gained squat..
You don't see that the hardest thing for a coach to do is keep a teams head up when you have seasons like this? The broncos sure know about it....Was their game plan bad going against the RAMS, or was it that they did not put effort out to run it?
This was a game of 2 4-10 teams, 1 team had a NFL leading D coming in, the other average at best. Both teams had bad offenses...this game could have been the worst game of the year by far....It was the effort of 1 team that made this game into what it was, the effort, not so much the game plan. I can't prove it but I really think anything the RAMS would have tried would have worked.
You can put all of this game into a great game plan if you want....point to this and that, but to do justice you also have to see what the opposition put up to defend it and the broncos were pretty much devoid of any emotion, save for the hot head(s).....You also need to respect the mindset of the other 4-10 team and realize that a mind set is what makes a game plan fly or flop.
Oh and the beat down began in the 1st 10 minutes, not as the game progressed into the 2nd Quarter....And you don't game plan for those INT's, they had chances for INT's all year and dropped them.....It was effort and mindset that made those plays come to life, not so much a game plan. Those INT's opened up the game, those short fields, those catches by Higs (that he has been known to drop this year).
Yes they used 2 TE formations this game, but really it looked to me what ever they had done would have worked against that deadA$$ team....there is a reason Buddy Hackett was fired after that display......and IMO it wasn't his game plan that did it....
