Like so many middling QB's, consistency game to game is what separates the good from the great. There is no doubt that Baker has the ability and has shown it many times like he did against the Broncos. The question then becomes, can that overcome some of the poorer games he has had before. The blame for bad games is not always on the organization and coaching. Baker is in the mold of Wentz, Goff, Tua, even Stafford in that you never really know what you're going to get day-to-day. All of those guys are very talented but are they elite?

The money elsewhere will be there for him however he's in a major market now in LA where stars are made by the media. He's very photogenic and well-spoken and the huge sponsorship deals may be in the offing along with more national exposure and money. The environment that McVay has created is conducive to his continued growth, possibly to elite status. Most NFL GM's know who he is, how he is and the proof is the lack of teams claiming him after he was waived by Carolina. Does he really want to roll the dice with a less-talented franchise? Money doesn't always ensure success and an NFL QB makes a lot of it. So does a million here or there really sway one by ego or is it a well-thought out career move? I expect Baker will want to stay in LA and we can only hope that our front office can offer this same argument. They took him when no one else was interested and isn't that worth something?
