I dunno that I agree that Mcvay and Snead are overrated. They've had some bad misses in the draft lately but let's not forget the gems that they've found too. Cooper Kupp and John Johnson in round 3 is amazing. Darius Williams undrafted, they've schemmed Dante Fowler and Leonard Floyd into pass rushing numbers. Tons of hits there.
Also I think Mcvay is more of an all in type of guy. Our Rosters aren't built to be deep. They're built to be powered by their stars. That's why things crumble so incredibly when they get neutralized. His offensive scheme is the same. It depends majority on good line play. Take that away and he's curtains. I don't think it's bad though. Just different.
Fixing the offensive line seems like the easiest route to success again. I don't think it'll be easy though. We're hoping that a rookie comes in day one and plays at an elite level. I dunno about that. Hope so. Offensive linemen in free agency are EXPENSIVE. So what do we do? JMS in round 2 would be great. But I doubt they're looking to facelift the whole line.
Hoecht is promising as an edge. He's only played about 4 games there. Let's give him some time. I would bring a pass rushing specialist to rotate him with. maybe a fowler or bring obo back.
