Tear it all down' - How? Cutting players - so eating a bunch of dead cap so you can't sign replacement players? He says Donald doesn't want to be traded, so you want to force him to retire early by signaling 2023 is a 'tank' year? What does that even mean - oh just run around in 2023, try not to win too many games and wait till 2025 when we might be good again. Are we the Jaguars now? Or closer to home - the 1994 Rams hoping to force a move to St. Louis. You think players and coaches and front office and the owner are cool with 'writing off' next year? And where does Stafford fit in all this? You going to trade him to some losing franchise? Really?
Not that I disagree with all of your points, but what's the plan then? You think we're a few good FA signings and a healthy season away from contending again? I see you arguing against that just as vociferously.
I'm pretty torn on this, but a big part of me knows I don't want to pull the scab off. But we need to. Donald isn't a dummy. I'm sure he knows the window on this team is closed, and if you can't admit that, I don't know what to tell you. I'd get what I could for Jalen (and sorry, it's not going to be two first round picks), and manage the cap around players it makes sense to cut vs players it doesn't.
None of this addresses or fixes our line, and that's going to take work in FA, the draft and coaching. If they get it fixed this off-season, I'd do cartwheels. But I'm highly skeptical it can be done this off-season without some shedding.
I could go on but you already know the story. My point is if you have a plan to address these needs without blowing this team up, I'm all ears.
