That is a good summary. The question does remain-and that is how are some SB winners able to avoid such a downfall as we have right here in River City. i.e. Patriots. My answer is they built for years. Rams (Kroenke) built for one year ! If you look at his Arsenal soccer team-same thing. Its his business model. So, I think your right-for whatever the fault-we're in for some trying times for a few years. But ownership will make a ton of money during this period for no other reason than the SB and exposure to the world of the grand So Fi stadium-and of course that was the goal !
As far as trading off the stars now to get some capital that was always the method of Dr. Buss of the Lakers and he was right. Sacrifice the last year or so of a great player to get several years of good players. I.E. Shaq.
Simply put, to sustain a great competitive team you need a foundation that continues to replenish itself. Patriots, Packers, Steelers, Seahawks. The 49ers are a good example of an effort to do just that. Unfortunately, that is not Kroenke's style. All one needs to do is to look at the teams he owns in various sports, soccer, basketball, football, etc. That is his business model. And by now we know its all about "business".
