I wish we were running on first down and then going "pass pass". We simply abandoned the run and just went to the pass. When I saw Wolf in the empty set, I knew we were done. That's not even working for Stafford, and Wolf had no chance.
The first drive had a semblance of balance, and had we stuck with it, we win the game. Every two yard run brought me back to when McVay said he thought those were "wasted" plays, and I just knew he didn't have the patience to keep running the rock. And he didn't. And this is why it's not on the players here, it's on Coach. Change the players and make them run this system and the results were unsurprisingly the same.
I keep teasing my sons, and telling them even if we draft a RB, he won't be the guy we want. The Rams look at a guy who's 6'-0" and 220 lbs as "fat". It'll be another scat back that "fits the system". A system that is really coming up short. Until McVay's system includes a real running game again, I feel we're going to be stuck in this box where everyone knows exactly what we're doing and how. And I'm not sure anymore that Sean knows how to change it.
