Not to pick an off-topic quibble; I know you posted about Tutu and said to verify your position that you didn't want to see long balls thrown to Skow because he couldn't catch them.

We certainly saw that last year - particularly in one memorably painful instance where the ball should have been caught. My thought since had been that I hope he works on his hands during the off-season.

Apparently - at least I'm hoping - he has. McVay said Skow was putting in extra work on tracking the ball during camp. And during that general time frame McVay also stated that he wanted his receivers to use the jug machine differently - instead of stand-and-catch he wanted receivers to move when catching from the jug machine. I thought at the time: Does this specifically apply to Skow?

Tracking the ball - putting your hands/body in position to catch it - it's ultimately an extended hand-eye thing that McVay spotted as a weakness although he didn't call it that. Catching in motion from the jugs machine - , are tthose things specifically applied to Skow?

He didn't have a drop in that awful Bills game. I only watched part of the Falcons game, checked the box score, and didn't notice a drop there. My overall sense is that coaching staff challenged him and provided the means for him to succeed re: work on his hands. It looks so far as if it's working. His improvement in that critical area could be part of what's keeping Tuitu on the bench.

As a fan I try to view both Tutu and Skow in terms of present performance and demonstrated improvement - not past weaknesses.

Unless I'm mistaken, Skow is catching what's being thrown to him this season, while Tutu had one pass bounce off his chest and through his hands. I was encouraged by Tutu's camp performance and would like to see that translate to game performance - if and when McVay thinks Tutu's abilities will give us the best chance to win.
