McVay never shows his offense in preseason, running a vanilla offense. So I question whether the routes McCutcheon has run really represent the route tree that McVay will use when the real games start.
McCutcheon referred to Allen Robinson and Cooper Kupp "geniuses." It's not a stretch to view him as not getting down the real plays at this point in time.
McCutcheon needs reps with Stafford in order to build rapport and see thru Stafford's eyes. If Allen Robinson can spend the whole offseason getting in sync with Matthew, then our lowest rated WR should as well.
Skow was inactive in the early games last year. Tutu didn't get it until year 2. It takes time for WRs to acclimate into a complex offense like McVay's that is constantly being tweaked. McCutcheon not being ready is not a curse, but to think he'll even be active tomorrow is a pipe dream.
Jourdan herself even said that, with McCutcheon making the team, his ceiling is really high! But that does not mean he's ready from day one.
Patience, 43 my friend, it will all come in due time.
