Couple of thoughts. Tutu is not in competition with McCutcheon. Tutu has made the team.
Some can be upset about it and argue that it's not a good decision, but he is on the 53. Right now he is our #3. Why? Well, he is our fastest player. If you see him live you gasp. He's faster than Desean Jackson ever was and DJ was a huge weapon his whole career. Also, Tutu has terrific hands. So, yes, he has a limited pass radius and he weight nothing, but he will use his speed to get open, snare passes while at top speed and disappear behind defenses. He is not a gadget guy. I don't want to see him taking handoffs against 300 pound monsters and getting crushed. I want to see him in motion or as a double or trip on one side and run a go or a post or a flag. Stafford can hit him in stride and that is 6. He is unique. I can't tell you that he will win the triple crown or an MVP, but with our other theaters he doesn't have to. If he catches a 50 yard bomb he opens up the D to all the crossing routes for the other guys.
He takes the opponent's FS out of the game.
He is a scary weapon. I get the reluctance to embrace the kid. I think all of us wanted the center when they were both available. The center is an All Pro stud. I get it. I agree. And Tutu evidently didn't come in with the right attitude last year. He didn't work hard enough and he got hurt. But, DJ is gone. Tutu is healthy. He is our big deep threat. He has worked hard on the playbook and in the weight room. He has caught everything thrown his way. I'm glad he has a chip on his shoulder. He has made it to the NFL at 135 pounds because he has unique talent and because he has a chip to prove. It's all good for the Rams. With CK and AR we have two big strong possession receivers. VJ makes 3. SKOW makes 4. Tutu is different. He is a speed guy. So is Harris. I went to the game last night. I was hoping to see Atwell. It wasn't to be. McCutcheon played great. Happy to see that. I cheer for the kids with the horns on their helmets. Go Rams!
