If Stafford's arm remains comprised, our season goes down the drain. If it persists into later years, that contract will crush us.
So, I get the concern and share the worries.
Still, I feel fairly confident. I think our FO is pretty capable, with a world class PT group. And I note 2 things:
- They granted that contract extension.
- They haven't made a move for a medium level backup.
I don't think they'd do these things if they weren't confident. Could they be wrong? Sure. But I tend to trust their sense of holding a good hand.
I would also say this. All NFL QBs are at risk on every play. And very few teams have a capable backup. Are we any more at risk than a team with a running QB? I don't think so.
This isn't really an injury. It's a chronic fatigue issue. That sort of thing can be managed. And we seem to have a good plan.
I am glad he is tak8ng so much time for rest. Every day he sits or does reduced reps feeds the social media hysteria machine. But it also increases our odds of having MS ready for the throws that matter.
