Last year at this time no one thought Allen would win the starting center job and many- me included- thought the odds he would even make the final roster were pretty low. I gave him 20/80 odds early in camp
to make the team.
And I was very wrong.
Is Atwell similar? We'll see... I remain somewhat skeptical. It's hard to ignore the reports and video clips coming out of camp. But let's see how he performs in preseason and in the joint practices vs. CIN. Big tests ahead. If he comes through and can actually be a situational WR4 that can get vertical, run crossing routes, etc. the way they used DeSean Jackson early on a year ago that would be great. I really don't think he is a threat to Jefferson (or eventually OBJ?) for the WR3 job. And as Jourdan says it is harder for them to sub in/out WRs given how much they run up tempo. But he could carve out a situational role getting some snaps. Jackson played 100 snaps (and had 8 catches) in 7 games with the Rams. Maybe Atwell can get those snaps in 2022.
