Sorry, I will trust the Rams scouting department and their player development department, they seem to know what they are doing.
This is just a general comment. Fans often say they trust the team's FO because it has the experts. Of course, on many levels, this is an unassailable position. FOs have skills fans can't have.
However, FOs make mistakes. Hell, our FO makes them. Demby, for example. Our FO has strung him along for several seasons. I'm sorry. I don't care how much expertise it has. That guy is a mistake they keep making.
Fans don't know as much as coaches do. True. But fans have eyes and insights and they are often correct in what they see.
In about '01, I drove down to Eastern Illinois to Rams camp. We had an early round DT with a lot of hype. He had been late to sign. I was watching practice and the crowd stirred. The rook had just signed and was coming out to practice. Major thrill in the crowd.
Now, I don't know from nothing. But I watched 1 play and I knew. The guy stood up and got whipped. Every play, he just stood and got whipped. I knew. He was a dog who would need a lot of help to be worth a damn.
I can't remember his name and I dunno what happened to him. He never did a damn thing for us.
I was just a fan. But my eyes told me the truth. I knew. The FO didn't.
Now, that was a different FO with far less chops. Our current bunch is far better skilled.
But no FO is worth blind faith. Every move is worth critical review. Yes. Fans need to remember their limitations, the gap between their view and that of league pros. To be honest, the chasm. Yes.
But 3rd round picks have limits and weaknesses. And attentive fans often see them. Either way, supporting or challenging the FO move, one needs an argument. Blind faith doesn't cut it.
