Shecky
Looking at some studies, the small receiver increased injury chances are unfounded. There is a case with injuries and small running backs and small linebackers. If Tutu does catch on in this league, despite some expert talent evaluators on this board, by all means, he should try to avoid unnecessary hits. One of the great Ram receivers was also an expert at taking on unnecessary hits - the Reverend.
Ok, all jokes aside about Tutu. We all know his size is his biggest detriment. He will need to stay healthy to survive very long in the NFL.
I am not familiar with those studies on smaller WR's and injuries. I would love to read them. Got a link?
As for "The Rev"...he was GREAT at avoiding contact. Holt was good at it too!
Some "smaller" WR's are built different too so that has to be taken into consideration also. For example, Steve Smith and Tyreek Hill are both "small" WR's but the both have a different body type than Tutu. They both appear to have more muscle to them than Tutu does.
IMO, Tutu's body just doesn't look like it will stand up to the beatings at this level. Maybe if he puts on 10-15 lbs of solid muscle would help and as you say...avoid unnecessary contact.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
