The Rams 2022 cap situation looks dire right now ($13.6M over the cap according to [
overthecap.com] ) but the Rams can do a few simple, common contract contortions and create over $50M in cap relief, which would net them around $37M in cap space heading into the 2022 season. And if Whit retires that's another $14M in cap space for a total of $51M or so,
Among those who are already signed for the 2022 season:
Stafford, Donald, Ramsey, Woods, Higbee, Floyd, Kupp, Havenstein, Hekker, Akers, Jefferson, Rapp, Henderson, Long, Evans, Lewis, Burgess, Gaines, Hopkins, Edwards, Scott, Hollins, EJones, Rochell, Fuller, Anchrum, Skowronek, Garrett, Jackson, Harris, Blanton, XJones, Calais, Roseboom, and Copeland.
Despite all the trades the Rams still have 8 picks in the 2022 draft thanks to comp picks for Holmes, JJ, Everett, Ebukam, and Hill.
My guess: the Rams will fill whatever holes the think they have thru the draft, trades, and free agents and go 'all in' for the 7th consecutive year, once again being in the discussion for a playoff spot and a potential SB run.
And it's not just me: Vegas has already installed the Rams as the #3 team in the NFC behind the Pack and the Bucs.
The Pack are $45M over the 2022 cap. And Brady retired. It's not like the Rams are the only team with issues ...
