Sometimes being a great coordinator doesn't translate into being a great head coach.
The same can be said for great players. Just because a guy is a superb football player doesn't mean he'd make a good coach. Seems like every time a great player reaches the end of his career, fans start talking about them in a coaching job. Coaching requires a whole different set of talents and skills than playing the game. Being good at one doesn't mean you'll be good at the other. Oh, and then there's always that little thing of whether or not the player even has any interest in coaching. Sure some do, but it's not a given.
