Lacks experience, but heck, McVay is running the O anyhow, maybe an outside perspective wouldn't hurt. He spent 3 years as the backup to Stafford, so that couldn't hurt, and he spent July to Sept with the Rams before retiring. So he knows McVay and the offense a bit.
Might be a fun, out of the box hire.
Not that I think it's related, but Matt Cavanaugh just left his position with the Jets. He and McVay have history.
